Volunteering in a nursing home environment is a rewarding experience for the resident as well as the volunteer.  Many residents thrive on volunteer interactions, whether you read to them, talk with them or simply sit in silence, your companionship is an irreplaceable gift to them.  Powhatan provides 24-hour medical and emotional care, an integral aspect of emotional care is companionship which not only boosts the mood but is therapeutic. 

Volunteering comes in many different sizes, through many different methods, through many different ages groups.  Our residents are very diverse, and we are always open to new activity ideas that can help physically and mentally stimulate residents.  Everyone has a talent and we would love for you to share yours at our facility.
